Awww :D I recently let my 5yo make a pillow for her doll, I know EXACTLY what you're saying!

Yeah, I remember when I was younger, I used to sew on my Mom's machine, and I would go to her all the time because I had made a giant rat's nest out of the thread. I didn't catch on to holding the threads while I started very well. Now I look back on that and think that it must have been hard on her to support my creative spirit while I was making a mess out of her machine. (I also sewed over pins all the time... le gasp!)

I think its so much better for them to learn on a real machine! not one of those "kid" machines!

I recently had my boys make their own pillow cases, so I understand what you mean.

Oh my two older boys love to do this! (8 & 6 years old) - my Babylock has a slider where I can slow down the stitch speed and it's great, they've made so many things and can thread the machine themselves now :o)

I'd still like to get them their own machine though...
