Trying to be Zakka

There have only been two quilts in blogland that have taken my breath away. One of them is Pinkchalk's baby quilt for Brie, and the other one is the one that inspired this one. The first person to guess the inspirational quilt wins a prize. Haven't figured out what the prize is yet, but it'll be handmade by me. Is that good motivation? I don't know.

p.s. I said inspirational quilt, not wallboard (wink, wink).

ETA: Here I go changing the rules while the game's in session. I've decided the first correct answer gets a prize (way to go Stacy!!!--the inspiration quilt is by 6.5 stitches and can be found here), and then I'm going to draw a random name from all other commenters. So please, stop by and say hello!

**Just to let you know--it's not too late to comment. I'm drawing a name tonight (Feb.1) at 11:00 (pacific time) before I go to bed.

***Oh man. Did I really say 11? It's only 9:30 and I'm fading. Oh well. No new comments have been coming in for hours now. Let's get the drawing over with. According to the random number generator comment #27 gets it. Congrats mama!

WoW. that's gorgeous!

could it be 6.5 stitches as the inspiration? (that is if the above guesses don't pan out). I just love that this quilt appears so clean & simple, yet there's really a whole lot going on in it. I always have that same "thought" when I see 6.5st work. :)

I don't know, but it is going to drive me nuts so I hope that someone guesses it correctly soon! Your quilt looks great...the loops are a nice touch. and I like the name on the twill tape.

I was going to say the 6.5 st one:

but stacy already guessed it. I'm too late.

It is beautiful no matter which one inspired you!

Loooooove all the quilts you post, but this one is just wonderul.
I've been back to visit your fish quilt several times as well since you sent me the link. I'm itching to use that Heather Ross stuff from my mom.... but I haven't much experience or imagination of my own for quilts.
I appreciate seeing what can be done with these fabrics.
Just lovely!
Oh, and 'hi' by the way ;)

I'm not easily awed... amused, sure, but not awed. However, I have to say that this quilt made my jaw drop at it's sheer lovliness. I love how it's so simple and yet so complex. I love how it looks like care, attention, love and hope were sewn in with the batting. I love the stamped twill tape and the curly-q quilting. It's love all around, really.

Oh, simple and harmonious. I truly love it. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if I'll get the courage to make one. I really do love it.

I love it! The back is really neat, I've never seen anything like it. You did a beautiful job on the quilting, so even and such pretty swirls! I've got some friend's having babies this year so I needed some inspiration!

Been lurking here for a while now and you just encouraged me to "pop in" and say hello. That quilt is absolutely beautiful! I love the ribbon loops. My daughter loved playing with the tag of her blanket when she was an infant so those loops could play double duty.

That looks like one snuggly quilt.

I thought about that 6.5 inches quilt immediately... Great detail.

Beautiful quilt! Thanks for the link to 6.5 stitches. I needed another blog to look at every day! LOL I'm in love with the quilt from Pink Chalk too. I'm percolating an idea inspired by that quilt for my sweet baby girl right now. I think it might be a This Little Piggie... quilt. :-) Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

I love this quilt!! The colors are great and the stitching is AMAZING!! Did you hand stitch this or machine quilt it?

Kelly said...

I must live vicariously through you since I do not quilt... that is just BEAUTIFUL! I love all your stuffs :) I might try to sew one... one day, for my son. Thanks for the inspiration!

Way to go Stacy! I have browsed 6.5 stitches flickr probably one billion times. I LOVE everything.

Your quilt looks great. The hand stamped tag is wonderful.

Kathy said...

Late as usual on the drawing thing but I LOVE the quilt. Beautiful.

I love seeing that Moda tape measure fabric used in something. The tones of the colors are so unique and hard to match, but I love what you did with it. And thanks for the bootie pattern, I'm crazy for booties and can't wait to try them. The "Bitty Booties" I made are not too practical, but cute to look at. Yours can actually be worn and I love the idea of the very special fleece on the bottoms. Thanks!
