Sara's Quilt

This is a quilt for my dear friend Sara who is due with her 3rd baby girl 2 weeks after me. She's the first friend I made when we moved out here to Bellevue. Her hubby and mine worked together on the same team and they decided that if I was lonely here in this new town that I might make us move back to Michigan. Maybe I would have, who knows? So they set us up on a playdate. Back then Davey had just turned one, and her oldest was 3, and her 2nd was a mere 6 weeks old. I barely even saw her because she was under a blanket and slept in her car seat the entire time. Anyway, we got along great, and we've been getting together steadily ever since. I love that my boys, in the absence of sisters, are growing up to be close to her girls and will learn how to deal with estrogen.

Back: And because I was a little overzealous and had an extra log cabin square left, I decided to go ahead and make a cushion.

You are too much! You really should get some sleep before the baby comes. This is a fabulous quilt. The colors and the contrast work really well. Of course, the back is just stunning. The last three quilts you've shared are all beautiful. Great job!

Oh what a wonderful quilt!! I also love your story. I have a lot of those friends here. I probably would have tried to escape back to USA without them too!

Also, I got one of your blocks through the Block Swap and just wanted to tell you how much I loved it. It's so beautiful

Dear JoJo, I got my package of swap blocks yesterday and felt like I'd won the lottery! What a variety of skill and design. I had seen a photo of your fabulous off-kilter center block log cabins (kinda doesn't roll off the tongue) and loved their quirkiness and so imagine my joy when I found one in my bag of goodies.

Thank you so much for this whimsical, wonderful block. I learned a lot from the swap, even though I felt intimidated about the quality of my work having seen so many artists who were participating. But the lure of getting 9 patches from others was enough to challenge me to do my best. I learned about the pleasure of working with solid fabrics, too, and the freedom of the basic log cabin design. It was a lot of fun all the way around.

Once again, thank you thank you for the block and I look forward to seeing what your quilt top will look like as you put your own pieces togehter.
